They say you never forget your first. I can definitely say that we, at BollyCURE, will never forget our first international outreach initiative in Livingstone, Zambia.
Zambia is a beautiful country. It was truly a once in a life time experience to be able to explore it - walking safaris, white water rafting on the Zambezi River, the glorious Victoria Falls, and interacting with predatory cats. However, the most memorable experience by far was being able to have the opportunity to connect with the wonderful people at the Lubasi Home in Livingstone, Zambia.
The Lubasi Home provides residential support for orphans and vulnerable children who don't have families to care for them. It was an honor and privilege to be able to donate the medical supplies that we gathered to these children. The administration here consists of loving men and women that care for the children. These children have many needs and the administration works very hard to care for them. They make efforts to manage their costs by managing a chicken coop to grow chickens to sell, a rotating crop system to grow and sell crops, as well as making handmade stationary and accessories. It was eye-opening to see how hard these young children and their caretakers work to help raise these vulnerable children in the best way possible.
We plan to continue our efforts with raising funds to take care of them as best as possible in the future. For more information on the Lubasi Home: http://www.lubasihome.org/p/how-to-help.html.
